How the St. Benedict Crucifix Can Protect Your Family

How the St. Benedict Crucifix Can Protect Your Family

The St. Benedict Crucifix is a very special crucifix. When blessed by a priest using the special blessing of St. Benedict medals, it becomes a powerful sacramental that will protect you and your family.

The St. Benedict Crucifix, when placed in a God-fearing home living in a state of grace, will protect your home from both bodily and spiritual harm. St. Benedict himself was miraculously protected by God from death due to poison. His story, which we will share later on in this article, is a beautiful reminder that through St. Benedict’s intercession, we too can be protected from bodily harm due to poisonous substances, such as Covid-19!

In this article, we will share two reasons why you should have a St. Benedict Crucifix in your home!

The St. Benedict Crucifix

Protection from the Devil

The St. Benedict Crucifix is different from other Crucifixes in that you will find, at the back of the head of Jesus in the Crucifix, the St. Benedict Medal. The other side of the medal can likewise be found at the back of the St. Benedict Crucifix.  When blessed by a priest, the St. Benedict Crucifix will protect our home from the presence of evil spirits.

The St. Benedict Medal that is found in the St. Benedict Crucifix is a very special medal. This medal is actually popularly known as the “devil-chasing” medal, since it is highly effective against evil spirits. The St. Benedict Crucifix is a big part of the spiritual “weapons” used by a Catholic exorcist in his ministry.

Why is the St. Benedict Medal and the St. Benedict Crucifix highly effective against evil spirits? It is because the St. Benedict Medal is the only medal that has an exorcism prayer inscribed in it.

In the face of the St. Benedict Medal right behind the head of Jesus in the St. Benedict Crucifix, you will notice inscribed in it the letters VRSNSMV - SMQLIVB. These are the initial letters of a Latin prayer of exorcism against Satan: "Vade retro Satana! Nunquam suade mihi vana! Sunt mala quae libas. Ipse venena bibas!”  This Latin prayer means: “Begone Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities! What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself!”

With these powerful words of exorcism inscribed in the Medal, Satan cannot even approach the place where a blessed St. Benedict Crucifix is placed!

This assumes, of course, that your family lives in a state of grace and avoids grievous sin. If anyone in your family lives in a state of grievous or mortal sin, then that sinful state in itself invites the presence of Satan in your home, and no amount of powerful sacramentals such as the St. Benedict Crucifix can protect your home from the devil’s evil influence. This is why it is very important to keep yourself in a state of grace, especially by frequenting the Sacrament of Confession.

Protection from Bodily Harm

Many miracles have been attributed to the St. Benedict Medal!  This is because many miracles were attributed to the patron saint itself, St. Benedict, while he was still alive. St. Benedict was miraculously protected from poison by God. Hence, if we call upon his help, he will surely help protect us and our families from bodily harm due to poisonous substances that may potentially enter our bodies - such as Covid 19!

While serving as abbott in a monastery, several monks, who were jealous of St. Benedict, planned to kill St. Benedict. The monks poisoned St. Benedict’s wine. When the wine was offered to Benedict, he made the sign of the cross and blessed the one. Immediately after the blessing, the glass burst!

Pope Gregory the Great, in his biography of Benedict, wrote: “…the glass had in it the drink of death, which could not endure the sign of life.”

Today, just like Benedict whose life was threatened by poison, we are likewise threatened by the poison of Covid-19. Covid-19 is like a poisonous, unseen substance, flying in the air, threatening all of us.  Let us all pray to St. Benedict, so that he will intercede for us and protect us from the poison of Covid-19 - in the same that he himself was protected by God from poison in his wine.

St. Benedict, pray for us!
